Newspaper Wood

Dutch designer Mieke Meijer and design firm Vij5 teamed up to create an amazing recycled building material: Newspaper Wood. Old newspapers are compressed to form “logs” and when they’re cut, the layers of paper create a pattern that looks like wood grain. The “wood” can be cut, sanded and generally treated like any other type of (real) wood.
