Richard Sweeney created this cardboard armchair and sofa in collaboration with Liam Hopkins. It sort of reminds me of a wasp nest. And while I sure it’s structurally sound, I imagine this would be strictly indoor furniture. Cardboard doesn’t fare too well in the elements.
The LED 001 desk lamp by designer Naama Hofman breaks the mold of traditional lamps. Its design is simple: a bent metal rod connecting to an acrylic tube that has about 120 LEDs inside it. A neat function of the design is that it can be placed on a table, leaned against a wall or even hung on a wall.

It’s Independence Day weekend here in the U.S., which means lots of people will be out enjoying the sun. Let this human tanning illustration by Janine Rewell be a friendly reminder to wear sunscreen! And make sure you don’t miss a spot.
Ok, so this is my third food related post this week. For those of you that are craving variety more than food art, I give you my word that I won’t go overboard with my current intrigue. But, I just couldn’t resist posting these photographs of accessories made out of food. The project, which is called “A Matter of Taste”, is the work of Italian photographer Fulvio Bonavia. His creations are truly remarkable. Take a look at Fulvio’s site to see more.

Recently I’ve found myself returning again and again to the portfolio of Liverpool-based graphic designer Gary McGarvey. His typographic posters, many of which are done with custom type, are particularly impressive. Here are some of my favorites. FYI, McGarvey also goes by the pseudonym Horse. I used to question people’s choice of pseudonyms, but after I named my blog “Cyan Magenta Yellow Bacon” I decided to embrace enigmatic pseudonyms. Go Horse!
