Sydney, Australia-based artist Anna-Wili Highfield makes beautiful sculptures of animals from torn paper. I’ve really never seen anything like them before. My favorite one is the cow (I should probably say “black angus” instead of “cow” so as not to shame my Iowa heritage). Check out Anna-Wili’s portfolio to see more.

Brazilian ad agency Maximidia made these clever vintage inspired ads for Facebook, Skype and YouTube. Isn’t technology neat?

If you had $70,000 worth of discarded lottery tickets lying around, what would you do? Hopefully you’d acknowledge that you’ve got a bit of a gambling problem. But another, more fun option would be to make a work of art from all those scratch offs. Adam Eckstrom and Lauren Was, the duo also known as Ghosts of a Dream, created this stunning “dream home” installation using, yes you guessed it, $70,000 worth of old lotto tickets.

They Draw & Cook is not your typical cooking blog. It’s a collection of illustrated recipes submitted by a variety of artists, designers, illustrators and cooks. But wait, there’s more! The recipes from the blog are going to be compiled into the most illustrative cookbook the world has ever seen (ok maybe that’s a bold statement, but judging from the dull cookbooks I have laying around it wouldn’t be hard to improve on the visuals!). For those of you that are interested in submitting your own illustrated recipe, take a look at the submission page.

I’ve recently started taking Twitter a little more seriously and have found that it’s an excellent source of art and design inspiration. One of the finds I came across this morning, courtesy of @cado, was this cool sculpture called “Pedestrian” by Brooklyn-based artist Ryan Johnson. This piece was part of a solo exhibition he had at Guild & Greyshkul in 2008. And while we’re on the subject of Twitter, make sure to follow @CMYBacon for regular updates and rants.

These goldfish print trash bags from Charles & Marie might actually make me want to take out the trash! People’s reaction to seeing these sitting on the curb would be priceless!

This humorous animated film called 35mm simplifies 35 famous movies into a lively journey through the history of film. My favorite one is Snow White. Take a look a see if you can identify all 35!
