Image bookmarking sites are a great source of visual inspiration. People post interesting images they find on all corners of the web and link back to their source, introducing you to new blogs and websites that will inspire your creativity. There are lots of lists of image bookmarking sites out there, but I’ve found that many of them aren’t necessarily relevant because the sites they link to are no longer in existence. At some point this list, too, won’t be relevant but for the time being it should point you in the direction of some great places to check out.
Broadly speaking, there are two types of image bookmarking sites: open and curated. Open sites allow you to join (or be invited to join) and post all the images you want. Curated sites allow their users to submit images but the images are curated on the back-end, meaning the owners of the sites decide whether or not to post the submitted image. The beauty of curated sites is their content is typically always high quality, but there is less of it than open sites. Open sites, as unwieldy as they can sometimes be, cultivate more of a community and enable the most liked images to float to the top rather than having a curator tell you what’s best.
So without further ado, here’s the list…
1. FFFFOUND! – The quintessential image bookmarking site. Invite only.
2. vi.sualize.us – Another powerhouse. Anyone can join.
3. We Heart It – Open to anyone. Tends to load slowly, but has lots of great images.
4. YAY!EVERYDAY – Invite only. Great content.
5. NotCot.org – One of the best curated sites.
6. Image Spark – Open site with “mood boards” to group images with similar visual tone or style.
7. Buamai – Curated site I’ve been visiting a lot recently.
8. My Modern Mix – A curated sister site of My Modern Metropolis
9. Dropular – Currently invite only. Lots of cool images.
10. Piccsy – Invite only. Tends to have lots of “beauty” images.
11. We Love Typography – Curated typography images.
12. FreshBump – Curated art and design images.
13. PicoCool – Invite only. Art, design, photography, architecture, culture, technology.
14. Art Ruby – Curated art images.
15. TasteSpotting – Curated food photography.
16. Enjoys Things – Open site for image and text bookmarking.
17. 9GAG – Open site for funny images.
18. Pic For Me - Open site for images of all kinds.
19. imgfave – Anyone can join, not all images are art and design related. Quality can vary.
20. pichaus – Another open image bookmarking site.

That’s really different experience for me because I’ve also work on Book Marking sites but not on images Book Marking sites. It is new for me; I think it is a better way to attract the more traffic towards the websites because images are more visible and attractive comparison to text.
