I remember how impressed I was when I first met someone that had built their own camera, but I wasn’t nearly as impressed as I am with Cary Norton. He built this 4×5 camera out of Legos! And in case you’re wondering, yes, it’s completely functional. I’ve even included a few shots he took with it at the end of this entry. Check out the post on Cary’s blog for a detailed description of how he made the camera and to see more photos.
Thank you to Elena for sending me this link!

Dan Funderburgh, a Brooklyn-based illustrator and master of decorative arts, created this intriguing series called Inventory. Each intricately decorated piece is made from laser cut chipboard. It probably won’t surprise you to hear that Dan is also a wallpaper designer! You can see more of his work on his website. Individual pieces from his Inventory series can be purchased at Eyelevel BQE.

For many years, painting was my passion. But…I couldn’t stand stretching canvases. Seriously, laundry and canvas-stretching were my two least favorite things. So maybe that’s why I like Rik Catlow’s paintings so much. Smashed beverage cans are the “canvas” on which he paints his quirky, urban pop art characters. You can see more of Rik’s paintings on his website or on Flickr.

There’s something delightfully charming about fan clubs for kids. When I was 10 I joined the Red Green Show fan club (we watched a lot of public television in our house). And what’s the best part of being in a fan club? The membership card, of course. Here’s a little collection of some vintage fan club cards I found.
