This image has been making the rounds on Pinterest lately and I couldn’t resist sharing. It’s absolutely brilliant. Unfortunately, I don’t know who the creative mind behind this was, but it was found on The Wooster Collective.
Polish artist Erwina Ziomkowska transforms normal pairs shoes into beautiful, bedazzled-looking creations by hammering countless metal pins into them (4 and half pounds of pins each, in fact). The heads of the pins give the shoes an elegant texture, however, one look inside these kicks and it’s clear that they’re unwearable.
Did you know that Moleskin makes luggage tags? Because I sure didn’t. And what’s even more surprising is that I’m getting really excited about luggage tags. I’m easily amused…

I may not be a kid any more, but dammit I still like balloons (I don’t get balloons on my birthday anymore, which kinda bums me out). Anyways, enough about my sad balloon-free life and onto something more practical, like balloon lights!
These ceiling and wall-mounted balloon lights from Estiluz are absolutely stunning. Granted, you’d need to paint your ceiling a dark color to get the full effect, but I’d say it would be worth it. For more information, visit Estiluz’s site.

All I have to say is…you’ve gotta be kidding me. I can’t even imagine how hard this would be to set up. Artist Rashad Alakbarov from Azerbaijan uses suspended translucent objects and other found materials to create light and shadow paintings on walls. Seriously, I’m amazed.

How cool is this illustrated skateboard (skatebeard?) deck by Mr. Bingo?! He’s got a lot of great illustrations in his portfolio. Definitely worth checking out!
Ok, so there are exceptions, but generally speaking, I completely agree with this illustration by Viktor Hertz: most 3D flicks are just a dressed up version of a steaming pile of terrible movie. I like to imagine that movie execs are sitting around saying, “Well, the movie sucks. There’s no doubt about it. But if we make it 3D, people might not notice!”

Here’s yet another example of why I love Twitter: Last week I tried coconut water for the first time and instantly loved it. So what did I do? I pulled out my phone and tweeted that I’d “just lost my coconut water virginity”. The next day, Karen Kurycki (a.k.a. CMYKaren, the long lost sister of CMYBacon) posted an illustrated version of my tweet on her site, Absurd Overheard, which is an illustrated collection of absurd/funny/silly statements overheard.
